How long does it take to set up a merchant account?
The time it takes to establish a merchant account depends on multiple factors including the completeness and accuracy of your submitted application. However, once your application has been approved we can typically have you processing through your new Everest Payments account within twenty-four hours.
Why does my credit information need to be reviewed?
When you apply for a merchant account, it is similar to applying for an unsecured line of credit. When a transaction occurs, the cardholder is charged and the merchant is paid the amount of the transaction. By law, the cardholder still has certain chargeback rights and can dispute the transaction. It is therefore necessary to confirm that every merchant is financially sound, conducts a viable business, and is operating business in a legitimate manner.
How do I receive payment for the transactions I submit to Everest Payments?
Everest Payments will fund payment to your designated business bank account via ACH for your Visa®,
MasterCard®, Discover and PIN Debit transactions. If you establish a relationship with American Express,
they will separately fund your account for transactions involving American Express cards.
How can I view my account information?
You will receive an account statement on a monthly basis via mail or email. In addition, you may obtain online access to your account information.
I already have a credit card terminal. Can I reprogram it to work with Everest Payments?
Yes, Everest Payments can support almost every commonly used terminal model.
What are interchange fees?
Interchange fees are mandatory transaction-related costs that are paid to the card issuer. These fees are set by Visa®, MasterCard® and the other card organizations. Interchange fees will vary depending upon how a transaction takes place, the type of card used, and the merchant's industry. The same interchange fees apply regardless of who a merchant chooses to process its transactions.
What are debit cards?
Debit cards at the point of sale are an alternative method of payment. When a PIN debit card is used, funds are removed from the cardholder's checking account. Many debit cards also display the Visa® or MasterCard® logo in which case they can be accepted with either a PIN or a signature.
